Sweet Hakea is native to coastal districts of southern Western Australia. This species forms dense large shrubs to four metres high with narrow sharp leaves. The flowering period is autumn to winter with creamy white flower heads. Fruits are woody, horned and covered with worts on a re-curved stalk.
Sweet Hakea has been often planted in gardens and parks but can rapidly invade native areas, especially in coastal situations, and regenerates prolifically after burning.
