This is a small shrub to 30cm and above, commonly found along our coastal heath areas such as the cliff top walks in Jan Juc. Attractive but fragile yellow flowers appear in spring and are native insect attracting including the Satin-green Forester moth which relies on Guinea-flowers as a food plant (see plate 4). It is distinguished from other Hibbertia's in the area by the fine silky hairs covering the leaves.
It prefers well drained soil and full sun and makes a good feature in a rockery or garden.
