Showy Parrot-pea
Dillwynia sericea subsp.1 (Southern Victoria)

The Showy Parrot-pea is found in Coastal Heathland along our cliff tops and elsewhere a component of Heathy Woodland. It is a small, erect to spreading shrub roughly 60cm in height. The species name sericea refers to the silky hairs which can be seen on the stiff branches and particularly new stem growth.
Leaves are fine, narrow-linear with the margins tightly folded under; minutely warty to hairy.
Flowers are usually in pairs, sometimes single in leaf axils to produce dense flower spikes. Paired colours of yellow and red with colour variations through to apricot and orange.
Dillwynia cinerascens, the Grey Parrot-pea also occurs locally and differs with its greyish foliage and orange or yellow flowers borne in axillary and terminal clusters.

Dillwynia is an endemic species found only in Australia.
