Mirror Bush is a a spreading shrub or small tree that can be from 0.5 to 4 metres tall depending on the location and exposure to salt spray.
The oppositely arranged leaves (2-8 cm long and 1-5 cm wide) are oval to rounded with bright green, glossy upper surfaces and lighter green underside. Inconspicuous greenish flowers are borne in clusters in the leaf forks with separate male and female flowers usually borne on separate plants.
Originally from New Zealand, this species is commonly cultivated as a garden ornamental, or as a salt-tolerant windbreak, particularly in the temperate regions of southern Australia.
