Honey-pots is a slow-growing, low, dense, spreading, prickly, perennial shrub to about 30cm in height. Growing commonly along the Jan Juc cliff tops but only in Coastal Heathland; in other areas also a component of woodland and open forest.
Leaves are narrow linear-lanceolate; softly hairy when young becoming sparsely hairy when mature. Underside grey with 3-7 dark green, parallel veins.
Flowering occurs from June to November.
Flowers are tubular, translucent pale green sometimes with a maroon tinge; arranged in a dense upright cluster usually on old wood; when mature are swollen with honey-fragrant nectar.
Numerous birds including Crimson Rosellas and iEastern Spinebills have been observed visiting the flowers.
