A dense, compact dune shrub found occasionally on coastal cliffs and growing up to 2 metres in height. Small leaves 10-25mm long and linear shaped are dark green on top and white/grey and woolly underneath. Dense woolly hairs along the branches are also a characteristic of this plant. It is often found growing in association with Coast Daisy-bush (Olearia axilaris).
The densely clustered flower heads are 'turbinate' meaning they are shaped like a spinning top, or inverse cone. Flowers typically appear towards the end of branches from January to March, the flowers attracting a wide array of pollinating insects including beetles, moths and butterflies.
