This marvellous succulent, bluish-green-leaved groundcover grows along our coastal cliff tops; on well-drained sandy soil in places like the mouth of Spring Creek and generally rear coastal dunes where it is able to tolerate coastal salt spray and extended dry conditions. It can also often be found growing as a dense clump in the proximity of the leafy drip-line of taller plants where the sunlight is not restricted and where the rain from the leaves is sufficient for its needs. It also does well in sunny, damp well-drained sites whilst also capable of tolerating shade it will respond with a more open growth habit.
The succulent leaves are almost tubular and slightly wider toward the apex which is minutely tipped.
Flowers are tiny and inconspicuous. They form as early as May and can continue through to late spring. Fruits are green; also pretty inconspicuous and torpedo-shaped.
