Blown Grass
Lachnagrostis aemula var. aemula

One of a number of Lachnagrostis grasses that are native to the region. This is a native grass that can easily be confused with the many introduced pasture species that grow in the region.

Forms a dense tuft with blades to around 15 cm, but flowering stems to around half a metre tall. These stems break off in the wind and blow around dispersing the seeds. Typically grows in poorly drained soils in the full sun to semi-shade. An annual grass or 'weak' perennial.
